Dispossessed Player Stats Table
ꦿ Dispossessed player stats are a relatively niche stat, but they have lots of potential value. I’ll guide you through some tips on how to use these stats below:
Navigate through the stats table
-
Filter through the player positions by selecting GK, DEF, MID, and FWD buttons on the top-left of the table.
-
Toggle the stats to display ‘PER 90’ with the button on the right and remove players who haven’t played regularly with the ‘MINIMUM 40% APPEARANCE’ button.
-
You can use the ‘LEAGUES' and ‘CUPS' 🌞toggle switch as well as the first drop-down menu to choose a specific cup or league. The second dropdown is to switch to last season's or this season’s stats.
-
♐From left to right, there is player information including full name, position, club, starts, and the number of times a player has come off the bench.
-
🌃Lastly, and most importantly, is the data showing the amount of times the player has been dispossessed, dribbled past, and amount of duels lost.
-
If you know what you’re looking for specifically, you can use the search bar to get right to it.

Player Dispossessed Stats Definitions
-
Dispossessed🦄: The number of times a player loses the ball to the opposition.
-
Dribbled past🥂: The number of times a player is outrun or out-skilled by an opponent.
-
Duels lost⭕: Occurs when a player loses a 50/50 opportunity to win possession of the ball.
What Counts as a Dispossession and What Doesn’t?
Dispossession happens when a player with the ball is tackled by an opponent, leading to a loss of possession. It only counts as a dispossession📖 if the player is not trying to dribble past a defender.
It’s not counted🎃 when a player attempts to dribble past a player but fails, as that is as an unsuccessful take-on.
Additionally, dispossessions tend to happen further up the pitch as attackers try to push past the opponent’s defence. If a player loses the ball due to a bad touch or a ball going out of play, this is not counted among possession stats.
Players With the Worst Dispossessed Stats
🅺 Below are the top three most dispossessed players from all the available leagues in the 2022/23 season. Not a great list to find your name on.
Rank | Player | Team | Dispossessed |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Oscar Trejo | Rayo Vallecano | 92 |
2 | Lucas Boyé | Elche | 85 |
3 | Brenden Aaronson | Leeds United | 81 |
🤪 Below are the players who have been dribbled past the most in 2022/23. It’s worth mentioning that the top 20 are all either midfielders or forwards and that defenders are less likely to get dribbled past, since their main objective is to stop that very thing from happening.
Rank | Player | Team | Dribbled Past |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Óscar Valentín | Rayo Vallecano | 73 |
2 | Johan Gastien | Clermont | 72 |
3 | Enzo Le Fée | Lorient | 69 |
Tips for Betting on Player Dispossessed
﷽ You may be wondering, “Are there even betting markets on player dispossessions?” Good question. Not exactly, but there are some brilliant markets which go perfectly hand-in-hand with the stats provided. Here are a couple:
Tackles
When players are tackled, they often become dispossessed. Therefore, players who are routinely dispossessed are therefore tackled more often than other players. Consequently, the stats above are great for betting on total amount of tackles🌟. You can bet on individual player tackles as well, but that’s harder to predict solely from this table.
Fouls
Using the same logic as above, if a player is dispossessed, they're tackled. But what if the tackle isn't executed properly? Well, that results in a foul. The good news here is that you can either bet on a total number of match fouls or player fouls betting𒁃. While this in itself is more challenging, the strategy is still sound.

dispossessed player stats FAQs
In the 2022/23 season, Brenden Aaronson was dispossessed 81 times for Leeds – the most in the Premier League that season.
ဣPossession statistics relate to the amount of times a particular team has control of the ball. This statistic is often calculated as a percentage.
𒊎Having high possession is definitely a plus, as it means that the team has more control over the ball, securing them from attacks and freeing them up to create more offensive opportunities. Of course, all the possession in the world doesn’t necessarily guarantee a win or even a goal.
𝕴In football, being dribbled past occurs when a player runs past a defender, who attempts to stop them but is unsuccessful.
